Help us make a difference…
Bird Aviary Caretaker
Do you enjoy helping animals? The birds in our Aviary need to be fed and watered one to two times per week. Once per week the bottom of the cage will need the top layer of bedding scooped out. Occasional cleaning of the glass may be needed if soiled. This position can be done on a rotation system with other volunteers.
Do you have an interest or hobby you would like to share? We are looking for volunteers who would like to start interest groups in our Assisted Living unit at Harwood Place. This unit offers a community based environment and a staff that will welcome and support your gift of time.
Harwood Place is seeking a choral director for their resident chorus. The chorus is comprised of 20-30 residents with varying abilities, but their love of music is what brings them together! Our founding choral director has retired, leaving an opening for a seasoned music professional interested in enriching the lives of these older adults. The choral director will be responsible for selecting music, leading weekly rehearsals and directing 2-3 performances per year. A director willing to play the piano for rehearsals is preferable. Rehearsal and performance schedules can be flexible to work with your schedule. All program costs (sheet music, piano tuning etc.) are covered by the community. A small stipend may be available for the right candidate. Rehearsals would begin in September.
Do you have computer skills you’re willing to share? Assist residents with the basics of e-mail: setting up an e-mail address, sending and receiving e-mail, and creating an address book.
