Community Programs

Lutheran Home and Harwood Place offers a number of programs/classes for the community as well as the families of our residents. We understand that part of caring for our seniors means helping families understand and cope with disease. We have a variety of support groups and educational opportunities open to all. Additionally, we offer some early intervention programming with Early Bird Club. Take a look below and please contact us if you have any questions.

 

Early Bird Club

The Early Bird Club is designed specifically for individuals with mild memory loss. The first of its kind in Wisconsin, the Early Bird Club focuses on maintaining and enhancing memory and brain functioning. Individuals as young as 40 will benefit from this new social and educational club. The Early Bird Club will follow guidelines established by the well known “Mind Boosters”and “Maintain Your Brain” programs from across the country.

Club meets from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on a variety of days
at Lutheran Home

Club Schedule Includes:
• Memory Enhancement
• Mind Booster
• Social Club
• Education/Support
• Noon Meal
• Community Outings
• Special Projects

Caregiver Support

Caregivers Support Group is sponsored by the Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.

The Caregivers Support Group is a mutual self-help group that strives to offer family care givers continued help and assistance when needed.  The group meets the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 6:30pm at the Lutheran Home Campus in the Board Room. Lutheran Home Adult Day Services offers to care for your loved one if you need to bring them along to the meeting-Free of Charge. Please let us know in advance if you will be bringing a loved one that needs care during the meeting.

Facilitated by Lutheran Home Staff: Pat Pries, Director of Social Services.  Supported by the Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
